Only the compatibility subset.  Using the full language can result in
incorrect document object models, unless IE really does detect XHTML
and modify its behaviour.  While it is possible that there are specific
error recovery rules to cope with XHTML, I believe the intention of the
compatibility subset was to make use of existing error recover logic
(and sloppy parsing - probably more the case for other browsers).
