There has been plenty of time for browsers and tools to catch up. In practice it is never going to disappear from browsers, even though it only exists in the standard because the browsers made it a faite accompli. Features get deprecated when they *are* used but they are bad features for which there is an existing better solution. Unused features are likely to get dropped much faster.
