For instance, for the HTML spec the BR element should be deprecated and would still be in the (say) html4.02 loose and frameset DTDs >Is "br" thought to be a formatting challenge? It thing the BR element could be considered purely a presentational element and is not absolutely needed because a <P>, <div>, or <span> element can act as an element to force a line break using a stylesheet.
