I have the latest browsers (IExporer(5.5)/netscape(4.75)) but find that certain element attributes are unsupported, eg, netscape does not support <col align=*> whilst IE will not process <col align="char" char=":">. 

I have not read that the agents do support the html4.01 specification yet.  Maybe I should be concentrating on 'profiles' and xhtml?
