The type attribute would theoretically be good. Nonetheless who is going to
ratify what image types are allowed and even more important which ones are the
browser giants(Nav and IE) going to support. Setting a type attribute would
open up another Pandora's box for developers due to IE and Netscape not seeing
eye to eye.
