Since HTML is, by design although of course not perfectly, a medium-independent hypertext markup language, it has provisions for a wide variety of media, current and future. Displaying an HTML document with newspaper style columns is certainly not a trivial task, but it is basically a problem of user agent design. Trying to do that one might find problems in the HTML language itself and present them for discussion, but more likely one finds problems in the design of pages and sites. Anything designed with one medium only in mind is of course bound to cause problems in others. Yucca, http://www.hut.fi/u/jkorpela/ or http://yucca.hut.fi/yucca.html
