Ref: Doron Shikmoni's note of Sun, 15 Jun 1997 17:56:10 IST I mostly agree with Doron's position about what should be the status of Visual in the Israeli HTML standard. However, I wish to correct some detail. Doron wrote: "We know for a fact, that (with or without relation to these recommendations) browser vendors are working on RFC2070 compliancy, with no OS dependecy." Currently, the MS Internet Explorer Hebrew version requires the Hebrew version of Win95. As for Netscape, it is not clear because the current version has no formal Hebrew support (Netscape 3 and Communicator 4). What they plan to implement in future versions and whether it will depend on the OS support or not has not been divulged, to the best of my knowledge. As for the other browsers, "Internet with an Accent" does fit the bill for Doron's statement, but its presence even on the Israeli scene is small (based on gut feelings, I doubt that there are validable figures about the usage of browsers in Israel or anywhere else), and it does not keep the same pace of enhancements as the 2 big players. Shalom (Regards), Mati
