I will be suggesting to the W3C I18n WG that HTML 4.01's SGML declaration should follow XML's in allowing all sorts of extra characters as NAMECHAR. This is not to allow native language markup of element names or attribute names, per se (even though that will be useful for XHTML) but to allow IDs in native languages. Can you consider this for HTML 4.01 anyway? Thanks. Rick Jelliffe
