As for empty element, the end tag </INPUT> is forbidden. The error you've found as been fixed and I suggest that you get the newer draft which has just been made available at http://www.w3.org/TR/PR-html40 -- Arnaud Le Hors - W3C, User Interface Domain - www.w3.org/People/Arnaud
