In the section "Deployment Issues" in the Cougar Working draft for script languages there is mention about the troubles with using the character ">" inside a script. But, there are no mention about the trouble with "--", which is used to separate HTML comments from each other. The use of an unescape "--" should also be advised against in the draft.
