This is the last call announcement for XForms 1.0 http://www.w3.org/TR/xforms/ XForms is an XML application that represents the next generation of Forms for the Web. By splitting traditional HTML forms into three parts - data model, data instances and user interface - it separates presentation from content, allows reuse, gives strong typing - reducing the number of round-trips to the server, as well as offering device independence and a reduced need for scripting. XForms is not a free-standing document type, but is intended to be integrated into other markup languages, such as XHTML. Comments may be sent to www-forms-editor@w3.org The Last Call review period ends on 2359Z on 22 February 2002. The following are the working groups that are especially invited to review the draft: CSS Device independence DOM Encryption HTML I18N P3P SVG Voice Browser WAI XML Protocol XML Query XML Schema XML Signature XSL The decision to go to last call is minuted at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-forms/2002JanMar/att-0040/01-2002jan 08.html#topic7 Best wishes, Steven Pemberton Co-chair, Forms WG
