OK, I see what you mean. At one point, we had a long discussion about an XPath function that would return the root node of any referenced instance data. Something like: <bind ... calculate="model(m1)/a/b/c div model(m2)/d/e/f"/> Would that meet your needs? Would it create problems? Please comment. Thanks! .micah
