I wish to question the content of the Note which is situated a little before the final table in 8.1. As currently drafted the Note states, "A host language is expected to add attributes such as xml:lang as well as an attribute, typically named class, that holds a list of strings that can be matched by CSS class selectors.". Assuming that SVG is a host language I don't know of any mechanism in SVG 1.0 or 1.1 or proposed for SVG 1.2 or 2.0 that allows "the host language" to add class attributes to XForms form controls. What is the mechanism for any host language to perform addition of class attributes to form controls? My second point is that it is unreasonable for class selectors to be "expected". Many use case scenarios are adequately handled by element type name selectors in CSS. Of course there *may* be occasions when a document author wishes to add class attributes to one or more form controls but I can see no reason why this should be "expected". For the avoidance of doubt this is sent to www-forms-editor@w3.org since I wish a formal response to the points raised. Andrew Watt
