This isn't really possible with OpenType as the power of GSUB and GPOS lookups is rather limited. It's unfortunately not regex-like at all—everything has to be hard coded. It's also far too deep of a problem for a font to solve on it's own—scripts * languages * superscript * subscript * small caps * unicase * all other transformations * authors' preferred markup syntax. The table sizes would be monstrously large if one could even get past the size limits that are part of the GSUB and GPOS format.
