The EPUB WG is currently working on EPUB 3.0 to be released around May


Enhanced Global Language Support (EGLS) is one of the most important new
features of EPUB 3.0, and there are several requirements to better
support user defined characters.

The use of WOFF as well as  SVG Fonts could be a good solution for EPUB
3.0. I' ve been involved in the EGLS WG discussion and I'm interested in
joining a discussion on this as an observer.
