As the DOM specification currently stands, there exists no way of accessing col and colgroup elements by using an HTMLTableElement instance. As well, there exists no possibility of appending newly created col's or colgroup's to tables created on-the-fly. It would be logical to provide something resembling a colgroup member to the HTMLTableElement interface providing access to colgroup's and col's within tables.
