Re: XHTML DOM

I have seen a few references to "XHTML DOM".

Question: Now, is this (1) some specific topic under consideration,
or is it just (2) "the ordinary DOM that happens to be used for XHTML
documents, so nothing special is to be done"?

In case (1), what are then the XHTML-specific issues?

For reference, I provide a few indication....

E.g., in
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-dom/2001JulSep/0145.html [
Lauren Wood <lauren@sqwest.bc.ca <mailto:lauren@sqwest.bc.ca?Subject=Re:%20Datestamping%20HTML&In-Reply-To=%3C40114AF6.3010203@sics.se%3E&References=%3C40114AF6.3010203@sics.se%3E>> : Re: XHTML DOM ] I find:

".... The HTML WG took over responsibility for the XHTML DOM .... "

and in
http://www.w3.org/TR/2002/WD-xhtml2-20020805/mod-attribute-collections.html[6.
XHTML Attribute Collections] I find:

".... We need to define the list of XHTML 2 events and map them into
the XHTML DOM. ....."

and in http://www.w3.org/TR/2002/WD-xhtml2-20021211/xhtml2-diff.html
[XHTML 2.0] I find:

"... the "document.write" method in the HTML DOM
<http://www.w3.org/TR/2002/WD-xhtml2-20021211/xhtml2-diff.html#ref_DOM>[
DOM ]). ... "

Any clarifications on this?
