Hi David and Ted, The W3C's Web Events WG has been discussing adding a Joystick API to its charter. To date, all of the WG members, including Matt and Olli, have voiced support for this charter change (see below). David - do you see any issues with adding this API to WebEvents' charter [1]? Ted - today we talked about this API during our weekly call [2]. Matt and Olli mentioned you may be interested in joining the WG and helping with this API. As such, please feel free to join us during our Sept 20 call @ 11:00 Boston time, where this API will be an agenda topic. -Regards, Art [1] http://www.w3.org/2010/webevents/charter/ [2] http://www.w3.org/2011/09/13-webevents-minutes.html#item07 -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RfC: adding Joystick API to WebEvents' charter; deadline Sept 9 Resent-Date: Thu, 1 Sep 2011 12:34:53 +0000 Resent-From: <public-webevents@w3.org> Date: Thu, 1 Sep 2011 08:34:16 -0400 From: ext Arthur Barstow <art.barstow@nokia.com> To: public-webevents@w3.org <public-webevents@w3.org> CC: Philippe Le Hégaret <plh@w3.org> Hi All, Mozilla [1] and Google [2] have draft specs for a Joystick API and members of both organizations have expressed interest in adding this API to the Web Events WG. During our August 30 call, we discussed adding this spec to our charter [3] and support for doing so was unanimous although many WG members were not on the call. Before the group can formally publish this API, the spec must be added to the WG's charter [4]. Given updating a charter is relatively heavy-weight, I don't want to pursue that route if members of the group have concerns about adding this API to our charter. By September 9, please indicate whether or not you support adding this API to the charter. If you do not support adding this API, please elaborate on your concerns. For those WG members that represent W3C members, you may want to forward this email to your AC rep. -Art Barstow [1] https://wiki.mozilla.org/JoystickAPI [2] http://h4ck3r.net/joystick/joystick.html [3] http://www.w3.org/2010/webevents/charter/ [4] http://www.w3.org/2011/08/30-webevents-minutes.html#item06
