HI semantic web photo fans, I'm pleased to see the revival of interest in this topic... bravo! Some of you may be interested in the recently completed work with grad student Jack Kustanowitz that uses photo metadata to produce organized layouts of groups of photos (family members, stops on a vacation trip, units of an organization, houses grouped by location, etc.). You can see the paper that just won Best Student Paper at the IEEE/ACM Joint Conference on Digital Libraries, . Meaningful Presentations of Photo Libraries: Rationale and Applications of Bi-Level Radial Quantum Layouts. see examples of the layouts, and download the software to make your own layouts. http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/brqlayer/ Then it's up to one of you to make a semantic web-based version - the paper on the algorithms and our source code are also on there. Best wishes... Ben Shneiderman ================= This is the TEMPORARY discussion list for the W3 Semantic-Photo History Project. For questions, contact greg@fotonotes.net.
