No - a datatype is defined as a lexical space, a value space and a mapping .. I don't think there is room in such a definition for throwing in the kicthen sink. That's why we strongly suggest against using xsd:QName, or xsd:ID which expect an XML context in which to be used. Jeremy > Does that help to convince you in the least? Guess :)
