RFE: class changes on multiple elements are inconsistent

Consider the case in which several contiguous <p> elements are
selected, all of which have the same @class attributes.  When
*changing* the class attribute using the sidebar, then only the
first element in the set has the change applied. For all others, the
old value remains, and the new value is added.

This behavior is inconsistent with the impression that is generated
by the user interface, and cumbersome.
