Why you don't edit directly the xhtml code in Amaya, so you will have:

<p>test text first row<br />test text second row</p>

save it, it is continuous and its rendering works well

of course Amaya formats it again like:

<p>test text first row<br />
test text second row</p>

next time you modify and save the page.
