Hi,

Here's some more information about the crash on Fedora Core 6 (reported
in http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-amaya/2006JulSep/0049.html
and other posts passim).

It looks like Ubuntu (presumably 6.10) suffers the same problem:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/amaya/+bug/50113

However, there's a workaround posted; launch Amaya with the following:

  export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 && XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 amaya

This works for me.

Is it worth re-issuing the RPM (9.52-2?) with the shortcut icons using a
similar string? Otherwise it won't work "out of the box" which may put
users off Amaya.

Also: I still can't get Amaya to run from the source distribution. What
build flags do you use for the RPM?

Regards,

Leon...
