Many text processing programs, word processors included, have a "save all" function, usually as part of the drop-down menu from a main menu "File" item. I find this handy for when I have many programs running, and I have to leave one of these text processoring programs to attend to some other program. With a single quick action, I can leave knowing that all the files I'm working on are saved.
