Clarification of the previous - a network capture of an entire HTTP header as emitted by Amaya shows that it does not emit a Referer: HTTP header with a GET request:- 00000030 47 45 54 20 2F 49 63 6F 6E 73 GET./Icons 00000040 2F 57 57 57 2F 77 33 63 5F 68 6F 6D 65 20 48 54 /WWW/w3c_home.HT 00000050 54 50 2F 31 2E 31 0D 0A 41 63 63 65 70 74 2D 45 TP/1.1..Accept-E 00000060 6E 63 6F 64 69 6E 67 3A 20 2A 2C 67 7A 69 70 0D ncoding:.*,gzip. 00000070 0A 54 45 3A 20 74 72 61 69 6C 65 72 73 2C 64 65 .TE:.trailers,de 00000080 66 6C 61 74 65 0D 0A 48 6F 73 74 3A 20 77 77 77 flate..Host:.www 00000090 2E 77 33 2E 6F 72 67 0D 0A 55 73 65 72 2D 41 67 .w3.org..User-Ag 000000A0 65 6E 74 3A 20 61 6D 61 79 61 2F 38 2E 31 61 20 ent:.amaya/8.1a. 000000B0 6C 69 62 77 77 77 2F 35 2E 34 2E 30 0D 0A 43 6F libwww/5.4.0..Co 000000C0 6E 6E 65 63 74 69 6F 6E 3A 20 54 45 2C 4B 65 65 nnection:.TE,Kee 000000D0 70 2D 41 6C 69 76 65 0D 0A 41 63 63 65 70 74 3A p-Alive..Accept: 000000E0 20 2A 2F 2A 3B 71 3D 30 2E 31 2C 69 6D 61 67 65 .*/*;q=0.1,image 000000F0 2F 2A 2C 69 6D 61 67 65 2F 67 69 66 2C 69 6D 61 /*,image/gif,ima 00000100 67 65 2F 6A 70 65 67 2C 69 6D 61 67 65 2F 70 6E ge/jpeg,image/pn 00000110 67 2C 69 6D 61 67 65 2F 73 76 67 2B 78 6D 6C 2C g,image/svg+xml, 00000120 69 6D 61 67 65 2F 73 76 67 2B 78 6D 6C 0D 0A 0D image/svg+xml... 00000130 0A . The check/referer URL is of course the one in the mark-up offered on the validator page after a successful validation; and referse to some executable that parses the GET header for the Referer: line. It is a separate issue that Amaya and the validator.w3.org parser produce slightly different reports given the same input (e.g. Amaya notes that <a><applet/></a> is not valid XHTML1.0 Transitional, but validator.w3.org accepts it). -----Original Message----- From: Steven Gilham [mailto:steven.gilham@eu.citrix.com] Sent: 12 August 2003 10:52 To: www-amaya@w3.org Subject: One problem carried over, and a new one (Amaya 8.1a) Using Amaya 8.1a on Win2k Advanced Server 1) Newly spotted problem - empty referrer Following a link of the form http://validator.w3.org/check/referer <http://validator.w3.org/check/referer> leads to the page http://validator.w3.org/check?uri= <http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=> 2) Problem carried forwards from 7.x - using the following works if the page loaded and the css file are in the same directory on the local host <style type="text/css" media="screen">@import url( site.css );</style> and such CSS as Amaya supports (i.e. we expect positioning not to work yet) is carried out; but when the files are placed on a web-server, it does not (though Mozilla 1.4 and IE6 resolve it); and the CSS files are fetched (according to the status line)
