Don, I'd like to add an item to the agenda for tomorrow's style guide call (Tue Dec 2). At today's PFWG call, we discussed Rich's latest update to the ARIA best practices guide regarding drag and drop. His update was also sent to the xtech list, and can be found here: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/wai-xtech/2008Nov/0079.html I've been given the action to bring this to the attention of the style guide group, and take back to the PFWG approval for this update, or, any problems therewith. There are three things to discuss. First, while the style guide recommends control+v for the "drop" operation, Jon's example uses 'space'. Should we stick with control+v or adopt space instead? Jon's examples are here: http://test.cita.uiuc.edu/aria/draganddrop/index.php Secondly, should there be a modifier key to handle multi-selections, where mulitiple items can be selected? It was suggested that shift+space be used for contiguous selection while control+space be used for discontiguous multi-selection. Note that the style guide implies that multiple selection is accomplished by navigating among potential draggable items, and pressing space bar to add an item to the selection. It's as if the system is put into a "selection mode" for which completion is indicated by control+c. However, it is unclear from the guide what keystroke puts the system into selection mode. Thirdly, are there any other issues that people see with Rich's latest best practices wording? The style guide's current recommendations for drag and drop are here: http://dev.aol.com/dhtml_style_guide#draganddrop -- ;;;;joseph 'This is not war -- this is pest control!' - "Doomsday", Dalek Leader -
