Hi Greg, Just to be clear, I'm not saying we should move to those personas. I would just like to see ours be a bit more consistent. So when the reader comes across a user with the same needs and preferences in two places, it is easier for them to connect. I believe that the current names are pretty random; I know that I didn't try too hard to be consistent, assuming that they'd all be straightened out in an editorial pass. Jim, I'm not sure whether Jan was suggesting we move to lettered personas. Certainly the 26 examples Anne gave in her article--which was very well done, by the way--are not intended to cover the full spectrum of disabilities that we might need to include (e.g. users of speech recognition and software magnifiers). We started using name, and tried to be inclusive. I can live with lettered personas. What do others think? Please email the list with thoughts, objections by Monday, Aug. 4. lets try to reach consensus, by Wed. Aug 6 on the list. That its unclear whether the names are meant to be personas or are totally random. 2. That some of the names are obscure and hard to pronounce, adding a potential barrier to understanding.
