Hello. To clarify what Steve is saying here: The browser and PDF tag attributes with only honor the lang attribute, meaning that they will compel the screen reader voice to switch languages if the PDF language attribute has been set correctly. This is not th esame as language translation, which, still requires human intervention, even in this AI age. I hope this helps. The PDF reader application cannot do this. Steve Green Managing Director Test Partners Ltd From: Morrell, Eleonora A <emorrell@albany.edu> Sent: 24 October 2025 16:10 To: w3c-wai-ig@w3.org Subject: PDF Title Hello, I have been asked a question that I’m not 100% sure of the answer by one of my co-workers. We are translating a PDF into 12 different languages. Do we have to translate the Title property of the PDF? In my opinion, we shouldn’t have to translate the title. The user’s browser language would translate the title. Am I incorrect? Any other opinions/thoughts from others who might have more expertise in this matter would greatly appreciate.
