Juliette already provided a wealth of info here, but yes the short version: 1.3.3 doesn't stop you from having controls/information that relies on sensory characteristics. 1.3.3 only says that if you then also have instructions/other content that references these things, then those instructions/that other content can't just refer to the things by their sensory characteristics. https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/750 https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/767 P -- Patrick H.
