RE: qq on mailto links

Thanks, Sailesh.

Yes, it was more a case of whether I needed to indicate anything to the user for email. For applications/external links we know we need to signpost that it opens in a new window using these techniques: https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20-TECHS/G201.html, so I wanted to check I wasn't missing some kind of requirement for email links.

However, it looks like we should be okay though, and as you say, it's more a case of trying to be as helpful as possible to both sighted and non-sighted users.

Kind regards
Louise

I think questions like these belong more to usability than accessibility. When markup is in line with what is standard / valid / considered programmatically determinable, user agents and assistive technologies render them in their own ways. Users get accustomed to how something is handled on a particular platform and are able to access content / functionality as needed.
Thanks,
Sailesh
