Dear Wai Interest Group, The EPUB 3 Working Group's accessibility subgroup is delighted to announce the first public Editor's Draft of the new specification "EPUB Accessibility: Conformance and Discovery Requirements for EPUB Publications," found at http://www.idpf.org/epub/a11y/accessibility.html. EPUB 3 is based on HTML, CSS, and SVG, building upon the Open Web Platform. Likewise, the EPUB Accessibility spec enriches the ongoing work of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), referencing WCAG 2.0 and WAI publications. The EPUB Accessibility Spec outlines the principles that will be used to create techniques for conformance. We believe the development of this specification will advance accessibility in the digital publishing space, and we invite you to join us in this effort. We are looking forward to your review and comments. To participate, please go to the GitHub issue tracker at https://github.com/IDPF/epub-revision/issues/711. Or you may send comments to Markus Gylling, CTO for the IDPF, markus.gylling@idpf.org The working group will review all comments and add specific topics as appropriate. I can also be reached directly via email for questions or comments: kerscher@montana.com Best George On behalf of the EPUB Accessibility sub-group chairs, Charles LaPierre and Avneesh Singh End of message George Kerscher Ph.D. -In our Information Age, access to information is a fundamental human right.
