Hi Nimisha,
>From my research and understanding, including asking a few screen reader users, as long as you are consistent and predictable across your site, either is fine. When designing our new website recently we have chosen to open docs and external site links in a new tab as that was the advice of our user experience person and as this is 'flagged' in the code (class="ext") everyone seems to have been happy with this so far?!
Thanks
Julie

Subject: Thoughts on links in a new window/tab

Hi All,

I am writing to get some thoughts on opening links in a new tab/window. I am aware of the accessibility guidelines, however I am curious to know the thoughts of this groups. Most of our clients want to open their documents and external site links in a new tab.

Thanks,
Nimisha
