RE: slider carousel

Hi Vivienne,

Isn't the image accompanied with some paragraph of text to its left? I meant
that is not covered in the alternate text or is it not important
information?

Hi Priti
Thanks so much for your input. I'll have a look at the alternative text and
see if it can be made clearer. The slides are images of some of the testing
team etc, so the 'one of our testers' is an image of just that.

I like your ideas about the instruction for screen readers and using CSS to
hide it - that should be a good idea and I'll see what we can do.

I wonder what the others will think...

Hi Vivienne,

The carousel on Web Key It website is keyboard accessible but would like to
know what is the text displayed on the left? Since I am a low vision user
can see a paragraph of text but Jaws reads alt as "One of our Testers",
"Webkeyit Team", Enhanced Accessibility Team" etc. I found the alternate
text to be incomplete, may be others with no sight issues can shed some
light on this.

Also the carousel starts as soon as the site navigation ends and screen
reader users are unaware about what sort of information is read out to them.
Information is read out in the following order:
1. Webkeyit team (alt)...
2. 1/5 (current and total number of slides in the carousel) 3. Start, Stop,
Rewind, Fast Forward (options to navigate the carousel)

You can add an instruction for screen reader users about the existence of
slides and the navigation options available to help them and use CSS to hide
the instruction. Also the order of information can be considered as "1/5"
should be placed first and then the alt (complete one) and then the
navigation options.

Also one does not require two separate options for Start/Stop & the same can
be provided as a toggle option.

Hope this helps & would love to hear from other list members about the
alternate text.

HI all

I just replied to Roger but then saw your other comments. My developer has
worked long and hard on the slide/carousel on my website:
www.webkeyit.com<http://www.webkeyit.com/>

I'd welcome your thoughts on whether it fits the bill. It is keyboard
accessible, but maybe it doesn't do all it should? Your input is very
welcome.

Unfortunately not, but if anyone finds a good example, I'd be interested to
see it too!

Hi

Anyone know of a good accessible slider/carousel.
It is important that the user can change the slides with the keyboard by
clicking previous and next buttons/links.

Thanks
Roger
