John,
> I feel incredibly foolish asking this, but...someone define
> MLD/SLD/PMLD, please?
I was wondering the same thing. Since no one has yet answered, here is
what I found.
MLD
An acronym for Moderate Learning Difficulty.
Moderate Learning Difficulty
The term 'moderate learning difficulty' describes a child with global
learning difficulties which are significant but not severe and which
require the child to have some special educational provision. This is
normally provided within the mainstream school by means of a statement.
PMLD
An acronym for Profound And Multiple Learning Difficulties.
SLD
An acronym for Severe Learning Difficulties.
This information is from a British website on Special Educational Needs
Information <http://homepages.which.net/~darrel.ince/pages/gloss1.htm>
whose glossary contains many definitions related to learning disorders..
