On the call today David mentioned that the Canadian government had made an exception for "complex maps" and that it would be certainly great if there was more WAI guidance on the topic. Here is their "list of exclusions" (August 2011) from the CA Standard on Web Accessibility: https://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=23601#appB I knew about the exception for live captioning, but didn't remember the complex map bit. My understanding is that the policy is being reviewed, and thus will almost certainly be updated, but no insight to the timeline or other details.
