WCAG 2.2 progress

Hi everyone,

A little update on the progress & plan for WCAG 2.2, including a list of the SCs that are currently at risk of being left-out if no-one picks them up.

We have completed initial reviews of 9 potential SCs.

These SCs need updates but are progressing well:

  *   Accessible authentication
  *   Focus visible (enhanced)
  *   Gesture Instructions
  *   Find controls

These had some substantial questions to answer, or adjustments to work on, and have people working on them:

  * Page break navigation / locators (the 2 ePub oriented SCs)
  *   Find help
  *   Undo errors
  *   Touch target spacing

These are at risk of being left-out if there is not further support for them:

  *   Orientation content change
  * No memorization (Needs support from one or two AG members.)
  * Description for icons (New SC from a public comment, needs someone to take it on).

You can get all the links through to drafts (where available) here:

(I’m not forgetting ‘Dragging’, which is up for review next week, or the SC ‘updates’.)

If anyone can take on an SC, or provide support to one of the at risk SCs, please let me know.

The plan from this point is:

  * Review any proposed SCs by TPAC – cut off for new suggestions is therefore Sept 2nd.
  * Review the SCs at TPAC, and establish workflow for understanding, techniques etc.
  * Sept-Dec, work on supporting documents.
  *   Jan-Mar, review & update supporting documents.

After March we’ll be going into the main W3C reviews & process to hit the Oct date, so we want to have everything ready *by* then.

Kind regards,

-Alastair
