Space will scroll the page in the browser. This is default browser behavour.

If in my browser based application I want to use space to scroll an area 
of the page rather than the whole page I would now be prohibited from 
doing so - despite the fact that it is mimicking default browser 
behaviour - without providing an ability to turn this off. This doesn't 
seem reasonable to me.
