Sure, I’m using the wiki for the description & future understanding doc:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/low-vision-a11y-tf/wiki/Graphics_Contrast
In the description is has some plain-english(ish) explanations of the exceptions:
“That is not a requirement for:
- A graphic with text embedded or overlayed that conveys the same information, such as labels and values on charts.
[snip]
- The information is available in another form elsewhere on the page, or linked from the page.”
On the little loop:
> - if 1.1.1 requires text alternatives for graphics
> - and 1.4.12 allows for text alternatives
The key for this SC is *visible* text that is a visible alternative to the graphic, not “text alternatives”, quite a different thing!
