William, Wendy, Jason, Today, reading Jason's latest version of fewer guidelines, I notice the following which may be combinable ... all regarding "structure" ... And, I think Guidelines 4 should be number 1... >Guideline 1: Device-independence. >1.4 Exposure of structural and semantic distinctions in markup or in a >data model. >1.5 Logical separation of content and structure from presentation. > >Guideline 3: Design content for ease of comprehension. >3.2 Emphasize structure through presentation. >3.7 Provide structures that divide information into small, logically >organised units. maybe 1.4 and 1.5 could be: Use markup and metadata to separate structure and content from presentation. and 3.2 and 3.7 could be Use presentation to emphasize the structure that divides information into smaller units. That said, I do agree that if we are to move forward with techniques, we need to be working from a stable set of checkpoints ... but then if we are still uncertain on the checkpoints ....
