A case of the emporer's clothes?
SVG no doubt offers some benefits, png does not explain them, one file is
immensely bigger than the other, and as can be seen at a small scale does
not display well.

I'd like to see a lot more graphics on the site, then we'd be in a position
to advise people, text is not the way.
It is a great dissapointment after many years of asking w3 to display a
greater interest in graphical web pages.
