Call for Participation for the Evaluation and Repair Tools Working Group (ERT WG)

Dear ERT Working Group,

It's a pleasure for me to announce that the W3C Membership has reviewed and accepted the newest Charter for the Evaluation and Repair Tools Working Group (ERT WG); we can now resume work under this new Charter:
  <http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/charter3>

The main focus of the ERT WG will be to complete the "Evaluation and Report Language 1.0" (EARL 1.0) which will enable the exchange and aggregation of evaluation test results between tools. The group will also provide technical input into the WAI Resource Suite "Evaluating Web Sites For Accessibility" which is maintained by the Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG). Please refer to the Charter for more information about the Scope and the Deliverables of the ERT Working Group.

Please also carefully read the section "Participation" of the Charter to find out the minimum requirements for participation in the ERT Working Group. The page "Participation in the Evaluation and Repair Tools Working Group" describes how to become a participant of the Working Group. Depending on whether you work for a W3C Member Organization or not, you will be required to fill out different forms to receive a W3C Sign-On Account and to submit a formal request (which includes a patent policy agreement). You will need to go through this new W3C sign-up process regardless if you were a previous participant of the Working Group or not:
  <http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/participation.html>

Unless there is objection from ERT Working Group Participants, we would like to hold our first Face-to-Face meeting (under the new Charter) on 3-4 March, 2005 at the W3C Technical Plenary in Boston, USA. It would be a good opportunity to observe and coordinate with other relevant W3C Working Groups which will be meeting at the same venue:
  <http://www.w3.org/2004/12/allgroupoverview.html>

Also, depending on the level of response we receive, we would like to hold our first Teleconference meeting (under the new Charter) on Tuesday 8 February, 2005 at 17:00 to 18:00 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time):
  * 09:00 to 10:00 North American Pacific Time (PST)
  * 12:00 to 13:00 North American Eastern Time (EST)
  * 18:00 to 19:00 Central European Time (CET)
  * 04:00 to 05:00 (Wednesday) Australian Eastern Time
(Please check the World Clock Meeting Planner to find out the precise date for your own time zone <http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html>)

If this meeting time is acceptable for most of the group then we will continue to meet on Tuesdays at this same time, otherwise we will try to reschedule to a more convenient time slot. Please suggest several alternative meeting times if you are not able to attend at this time slot.

Please start the participation procedure (as described above) as soon as possible if you intend to participate in the Evaluation and Repair Tools Working Group as the participation forms may take some time to process. Additionally, please reply to this address (shadi@w3.org) and let me know your availability for both the Face-to-Face meeting in Boston as well as the weekly Teleconference time slot. I'm also happy to discuss any questions or comments, my contact information is included below.

Looking forward to your participation!

Regards,
  Shadi
