Introducing myself

Greetings EOWG,

I'm very happy to be joining you. Let me briefly introduce myself:

I'm a french speaking canadian web accessibility consultant from Montreal who's been working in the field for about 10 years. I am the founding chairman of W3Québec (www.w3qc.org), a non-profit web standards advocacy group that's been going on since 2003 and a founding member of AccessibilitéWeb (www.accessibiliteweb.com), a now 5 year-old non-profit organization promoting web accessibility in the province of Quebec, Canada. My work mostly consists of giving conferences, training and coaching on web accessibility, as well as providing websites accessibility assessment work and related consultancy services to government related organizations and the private sector.

I am also the co-editor of the accessibility standards for the Quebec government (SGQRI 008, based on WCAG 2.0).

I've met a few of you (including Shawn, Jeanne, Sharron and Judy) for the first time last week at CSUN. I presented a talk on how to "successfully integrate accessibility in an organization's web development lifecycle", where we'd broken down WCAG 2.0 SC among typical domain experts. This presentation and other discussions last week have motivated me to join EO. For those interested, most of that work is available here: <http://alpha.gcwwwtemplates.tbs-sct.ircan.gc.ca/theme-clf2-nsi2/accessRespBreakdown-eng.html> and I'm really looking forward to sharing it with this group and maybe make something out of it the WAI could use.

I come from an html/css developer background, am a participating member the HTML5 WG (active mostly in the html5-a11y task force) and an all-around pragmatic open web standards advocate. I've been dedicated to accessibility for as long as I can remember and hope I can be useful on a more global scale by collaborating with you in EO. I have been working almost exclusively in french up until now (doing mostly education and outreach related work), and I'm looking forward to expanding on that a little. <smile>

Looking at the extensive todo list or exciting projects out on the EO home page, I do look forward to contributing, sharing and learning from you all!

Best regards,
