For a Spanish speaker the (untranslated) title "Reporting..." is very confusing. It does not translate, and one would have to choose a quite different word. The choice would probably be "contacting" and for me "contacting organisations..." in the list of alternatives would be preferable. Reporting to me suggests reporting them to some authority; one doesn't normally report people to themselves. The suggestion for "Encouraging - Approaching..." is good in that it is positive, but "encouraging" is too wide in scope and throws the reader off the topic before reading the rest of the sentence, I think. Probably "Responding to..." would be a problem to translate or understand for non-native speakers. regards, Alan Responding to organizations with Inaccessible Websites Andrew Arch wrote: > Hello EOWG and WAI-AGE Task Force participants, > > An issue with the Reporting document [1] that we'd like your input on > relates to the *document title*. > > We are currently using "*How to Report an Inaccessible Website*" as the > title, however a few people have raised questions about the use of the > word "report" in the title from the perspective of: > a) translation into other languages > b) a possible expectation of how to write a formal accessibility > report, rather than help constructing an email or letter from an > individual wanting to provide feedback about an accessibility problem > > We have a list of previously suggested titles [2], and welcome input and > discussion on the current title and/or suggestions (from the list or new > ones) for a replacement, especially in light of the questions that have > been raised. > > Please 'reply all' when you comment to be sure both groups see your reply. > > Thanks, Andrew > [1] http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/Drafts/responding/Overview.html > [1] http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/changelogs/cl-responding.html#titles > -- Alan Chuter Departamento de Usabilidad y Accesibilidad Consultor Technosite - Grupo Fundosa FundaciĆ³n ONCE Tfno.: 91 121 03 30 Fax: 91 375 70 51 achuter@technosite.es http://www.technosite.es
