Dear EOWG Members, This is the procecure we use to evaluate contracted Web pages, purchased web products and web content we produce ourselves. For those members outside of the US this documentation is based on Section 508 of the Fedral Rehabilitation Act. When Tom Jewett and I realized that WCAG 2.0 was easier to implement that 508, we linked the two standards. The linking property was user need. This document links 508 to a textual guide to the W3C techniques that apply to a given 508 rule. We found that this language, though technical, was easier to interpret by technically oriented managers and purchasing agents. For developers who want to do business with us, we include direct links to the exact WCAG 2.0 success criteria and associated "How to meet" sufficient techniques. I have quickly made a web version form word. It is located at: http://www.csulb.edu/~wed/public/Letters/VPATWCAG.html It is not difficult reading. You will see some additional CSULB criteria at the end. These are directly from WCAG 2.0. The last CSULB criterion is a general EIT clause of Section 508. It is roughly equivalent to "accessibility supported". It states that a web technology cannot break accomodations that are provided by the base operating system. Sincerely, Wayne
