Per my action item from the 2 May 2006 AUWG call, my review of A.2.8 [1] follows: ----------------------------------Beginning of Review--------------------------------------- We have a definition of "configurability" in the Glossary - can we change the title to "provide personalized -configurability-"? Do we need a definition for "personalized configurability"? Rationale: How do authors benefit? What is the accessibility issue? What is a "shared system"? Is this a type of authoring tool? "Personal settings file" sounds specific - are there ways to provide personalized configurability in addition to creating a personal settings file? Do we need a definition for "personal settings file"? How exactly would a personal settings file interact with an authoring tool (or authoring tool interface?) to create personalized configurability? What are some examples of items that would be personally configurable or be in a personal settings file? SC 1: Add "the author" as in "must provide the ability for -the author- to-" Are we just talking here about configuration settings changeable/manageable by the author, or are we including configuration settings determined by the platform/OS? For "output", are you talking about the presentation (rendering?) of the authoring interface or the result of the authoring process? Is the parsing of the last clause "(visual output or auditory output) and keyboard operability" to mean "all configuration settings related to either (visual output and keyboard operability) or (auditory output and keyboard operability)? Just wanted to make sure, as the wording may seem to lend itself to different interpretations? Do we have a definition (or examples?) for what constitutes - keyboard operability, visual output, auditory output? SC2: What is being tested is the authoring tool, so : "The authoring tool must provide the author with the ability to .." What is the "application" in relation to the "authoring tool" or "authoring tool interface"? Do we need a definition for exactly what constitutes an application in this context? What is a "configuration set"? Don't we mean "multiple configuration settings", or "multiple personal settings files"? ----------------------------------------------End of Review----------------------------------------------------------- Thanks and best wishes Tim Boland NIST [1]: http://www.w3.org/WAI/AU/2006/WD-ATAG20-20060322/WD-ATAG20-20060322.html
