MINUTES from AUWG Teleconference on Monday, April 25, 2005 Attendees MM: Matt May KM: Karen Mardahl JR: Jan Richards JT: Jutta Treviranus BF: Barry Feigenbaum Regrets TB: Tim Boland GP: Greg Pisocky RS: Robert Scano ------- Agenda: ------- >>"Format" and the relationship with WCAG: >http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-au/2005AprJun/0022.html JR: EOWG had trouble with definition for format. WCAG uses "technology" instead of "format". JR discussed ideas (in above link) with Wendy Chisholm and she seemed to have no problem with this approach. How encompassing the term "technology" is for WCAG needs to be investigated. ACTION: MM talks to Wendy. JR will make note about using this term in ATAG conditionally for now. Further discussion at f2f. JT was worried about language in benchmarking section (Action 3 in above link). We agreed to include this for now and then work on making language "less complex". Same with Action 4 in above link. Concerns conformance. It will be included and then cleaned up as we go along. "Limbo" item still in limbo. >> ATAG requirements on accessible authoring interfaces http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-au/2005AprJun/0029.html MM checked how UUAG matched Section 508, JR checked UUAG to ISO16071. Result was taking UUAG items and putting them into ATAG in "ATAG language". BF: Are assistive technologies taken into consideration? JR: Covered in http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-au/2005AprJun/0037.html today. [Read from bottom up.] JR pointed out that the new checkpoints 1 and 2 in new_guideline_1.html in http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-au/2005AprJun/0029.html were important. "NEW.1 Ensure that Web-based functionality conforms to WCAG [Priority RP]" Very important. Cannot leverage UUAG if you haven't followed WCAG. Then "NEW.2 Ensure that fully rendered views conform to UAAG 1.0. [Priority 1]" Either the tool's own preview mode should conform or the authoring tool must be able to specify their own agent for the preview function. It's the actual viewing function that is being emphasized here. JR: Tried to keep this guideline uncluttered. >>Other bugs (I will send out the updated table) (http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-au/2005AprJun/0040.html) We went through the other bugs and assigned several. JT: Bug 1119 for Guideline 3.5 really a WCAG issue and should be sent to them. JR: Will work on conformance scheme update. EOWG lexicon suggestions can be discussed quickly at f2f. >> F2F planning - please register: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-au/2005JanMar/0080.html JT: Will probably have conference call soon with Ottawa about their upcoming policies. Perhaps on Friday at f2f. More news later. <end of minutes>
