Re: I am planning to translate XSLT 1.0 and XPath 1.0 into Turkish

Dear Nilgün Belma Bugüner (& all)
(sorry for the butchering of the name above; that's the way it displays in
my email at the library here).

I take it that Nilgun is looking for feedback on the quality/accuracy of the
translations (which I could not give; Turkish is not a language I speak).

Google however has a pretty good automatic translator (as automatic
translators go) which I once used to check some text I had translated into
French to see how closely it translated back to the original English (I
should have checked my whole translation that way; but I fell it was best to
use google's translator to check just a paragraph or even a couple of
sentences at a time --that I was having trouble with -- so that I did not
get lost);

to use the google translator this way, go to:

http://www.google.com/language_tools

(Google confused the references of pronouns the two times I tried to
translate a paragraph with it-- that is it could not always figure out what
a pronoun was referring to [even in simple sentences with an impersonal verb
it would try to put in a person sometimes & there was none]; but it was
otherwise o.k. I do not know how good it is with Turkish though.

I think google uses [though I am not quite sure] parallel distributed
processing or something like that; that is, it compares a large number of
translations with originals -- by machine -- and infers the rules, then
revises them as new translations come up. This enables google to learn a
ton more rules than it would if people had to teach it, I guess. And so, it
should get better at translating over time, as it gets fed more
documents???? Think that's right.)
