XML schedule of work

The SGML ERB has determined the following schedule of work for the
"Generic SGML on the Web" activity:

October 2 through November 13, 1996

   Creation of the basic XML specification.  Questions will be
   considered in batches, with each batch allowed approximately one
   week of discussion in the WG before it is formally voted on by the
   ERB.  Note that October 6 is the cutoff for unstructured WG
   discussion of 8879 features and access to the "voting booth".

November 17, 1996

   WG meeting the evening preceding SGML 96 in Boston.

November 19, 1996

   Presentation of the basic XML specification at SGML 96 in Boston.

December 1996 through March 1997

   Specification of linking and addressing mechanisms, hyperlink
   behavior, and entity management for XML.

April 1997

   Presentation of the full XML specification at the Sixth Annual
   World Wide Web conference in Santa Clara, California.

May 1997 through October 1997

   Completion of dsssl-o for Web applications and final refinements to
   the XML specification in light of early implementation experience.

November 1997

   Presentation of the final XML specification at SGML 97.
