Readin owlref, in section 5, I came across:

Individual axioms need not necessarily be about named individuals: they can 
also refer to anonymous individuals. As an example, consider the piece of 
RDF/XML below. The example defines some facts about an anonymous instance 
of the class Measurement,

Any thoughts about this description of bnodes as describing anonymous
