the first paragraph of the updated text reads:

  "In the [DOM], [XPath] and consequently [XML-C14N] data models
   an element has namespace nodes that correspond to those
   declarations within the element and its ancestors:"

I think this is incorrect since in the DOM L2 data model an element
has only those namespace nodes that are declared within that very
element.

I would prefer to skip the "[DOM],".
